Aval Payasam (Poha Kheer) is made with milk and poha. Learn how to make/prepare Aval Payasam by following this easy recipe. It will be helpful to prepare a sweet in short time for your guest and kids.
INGREDIENTS:
Poha (Flattered Rice) – ½ cup
METHOD:
- Whole Cream Milk – 2 liter
- Almonds (Thinly Slivered) – 10
- Pistachios (Thinly Slivered) – 10
- Sugar – 2 Cups
- Cashews (Broken) – 8
- Raisins – 15
- Wash and drain the poha. Leave it aside for 10 minutes.
- Separate poha grains with your finger.
- Boil the milk in a large vessel.
- When milk starts boiling, add poha and stir gently.
- Bring to boil again.
- Simmer till milk volume reduces to half. Stir occasionally.
- Now add sugar and cardamom powder. Stir to dissolve.
- Add fried raisins and cashews. Simmer for 2 more minutes.
- Garnish with chopped almonds and pistachios.
- Serve hot.
